Bridging the inter-generational gap

We are pleased and super proud to connect with our local plunket group to have their morning coffee group come to our home at Pinehaven Cottage on a regular basis.  Many of our residents took the opportunity to re-connect and reminisce about their younger days. Some residents politely declined!

Spring 2014

Welcome to Pinehaven’s 2nd on-line newsletter – Spring Newsletter 2014 (albeit premature by about 5 days seeing as its still August))
Hello All

Thought it was about time we gave you an update as there have been many things going in, on and around here lately !!!!!(boy is that an understatement)

We are now (as of 13.08.14) known as

our new email address is

Sister company of the lovely Leigh Road cottage up in Whangateau.

Welcome to Lorraine and Gordon Mann and family who have purchased the home and grounds and are going to make some wonderful changes to our facility.

Their team, including daughter Fiona and her partner Rose, have many many years experience in rest home and dementia care and are wanting to use that to develop Pinehaven Cottage into a  modern facility with a  new  dementia unit included at the rear of the grounds.  This is a long term project for Lorraine and Gordon, and they really want to make sure we develop the facility that will, not just lead the way in caring for our elderly, but have modern facilities as well.

Rebecca will continue to manage the facility on a day to day basis and be supported by all of our wonderful caregivers and support staff.

In the coming weeks I will add more news, but due to the busy changeover period, the newsletter will be a little lackluster for now.

I can tell you all that our recent Certification Audit for the Ministry of Health, done in June this year was an audit to be extremely proud of.  We had only one minor partial attainment, whereby we need to make sure our dangerous drugs audit is checked weekly not fortnightly.  Well done to all the staff who make these audits such a success.

I would like to finish this newsletter with a hearty Thank You to all my wonderful staff, who every day, go over and above what is required of them, to make Pinehaven Cottage the very special place that it is. The compassion that they give and the skill they bring to their role and the extra mile that they go, every day really makes me so proud to be involved with such a great team. Thank you to all of you xxx
